Messages from my Desk
Points to ponder :)
I few little dribs and drabs
in no special order ... that I have collected that make me think,
Mostly as minor re writes
As I may not remember them exactly word for word, collected from too many
places
To list and remember from
where ... anything with a * I have written myself
May they be of interest to
you and give you thoughts to ponder
Life is not a game to be observed,
but rather one to be lived. The rules are only knowable, if you leap in
with both feet and play. Non players often whine and complain that life
passes them by, never realizing that life is what you make it.
Education alone, is not
a substitute for intelligence *
Some people never live life.
They plod along in stubborn dumb persistence, and react with near violence
to any attempt to lift them from their illusions.
Do not depend only on theory..
especially if your own life hangs in the balance.
Major flaws in life develop
because we fear to make radical internal changes, even when the need is
obvious.
We learn best by what we
create, not by what we copy *
A circle has no beginning
and no end and this is a real truth about the " finite" thing we call time.
*
All people are born with
that most debilitating of diseases, our ability for self deception.
All history is only a second
hand approximation of events, to really know what happened, you had to
have been there. *
Spend your energy on things
that make you strong. *
Allow for the unexpected,
there are always other forces at work. *
When you bring up improvements,
expect those in power to hate you for it, because they didn't think of
it first ! *
Writers of history, do not
record events, they reshape them according to their own perceptions. In
the process they change the future, as we use history to give us guidance
on what to do.
Ya
can't behave like a piss ant, and expect the world not to step on you *
Don't walk behind me; I may not lead.
Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow.
Walk beside me; that we may be as one.
-American Indian Proverb, Ute
Karma
is the effect of the stone
you
toss into the pool called Life
If the toss is soft and gentle and done with love,
then the ripples that return are gentle
If you drop a boulder in ... by force ...
you are gonna get wet when the ripple comes back *
Never call yourself an expert.
The second you say this, you just became obsolete *
The quickest way to stop
learning, is thinking you know it already.
Seek only freedom and you
become the captive of your desires, seek discipline and you find your liberty.
The day I stop learning
new things, bury me, as I will have been dead for three days ! *
The only human being you
have any real control over ... is yourself *
Poverty is a state of finances,
not a state of mind.
Sometimes silence, is the
best thing to say.
If you spend your life in
self sacrifice, you end up hating those you have sacrificed for.
Even a dogs life has its
price.
Your
right to swing your arm, ends at your neighbors nose.

Lincon-
The
well dipper can dip into the well of giving forever for others
But
the well dipper had better remember to dip for herself once in a while,
or no one gets any
because
the well dipper just keeled over from thirst ! *
Never
strike a man twice for the same offense.
If you wait for the Lull
in life to find peace, you will wait forever *
Making yourself feel bad
over a wrong you did, is not the same thing as making amends for it. *
We
must remember Hospitality and our world will become less hostile *
If
life is to change ... it must come from you ... The self is on whom you
rely *
You
are what you are .. because you choose to be *
Great
minds discuss ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.

Learn
from the mistakes of others. You can't live long enough to make them all
yourself.
Don't
judge people by their relatives.
No
one can ruin your day without YOUR permission.

If
you enjoy what you do, you'll never work another day in your life.
Confusious
Others
can stop you temporarily, but only you can do it permanently.
The
biggest lie on the planet: "When I get what I want, I will be happy."
Life
is what's coming....not what was.
Success
is getting up ..... one more time.
There
are only two things you HAVE TO do in life.
You
HAVE TO die. And You HAVE TO live until you die.
You
make up all the rest...
We
are not human beings learning to live a spiritual path,
but
spiritual beings learning to live a human path.
Definition
of a very dangerous person: Is one who will tell the truth, only when will
do more damage than a lie. *
Hypocrisy
is another word for lying to yourself. *
Keeping oneself from dying,
is not the same as living.
Innovation and daring create
heroes. Mindless adherence to outdated rules, only creates politicians.
The capacity to learn is
a gift
The ability to learn is
a skill
The willingness to learn
however, is a choice
Never underestimate the
power of the human mind to believe what it wants to believe, despite evidence
to the contrary
Anyone can become angry
- that is easy.
But to be angry with the
right person, to the right degree
at the right time, for the
right purpose, and in the right way;
this is not easy.
-Aristotle-
"People take different roads
seeking fulfillment and happiness.
Just because they're not
on your road, doesn't mean they've gotten lost."
-H. Jackson Brown, Jr. -
Don't be afraid that your
life will end ......... be afraid that it will never begin !
**I Believe**
I believe - That you should
always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last
time you see them.
I believe - That either you
control your attitude or it controls you.
I believe - That regardless
of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and
there had better be
something else to take its place.
I believe - That money is
a lousy way of keeping score.
I believe - That sometimes
when I'm angry, I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give
me the right to be cruel.
I believe - That maturity
has alot more to do with what types of experiences you've had, and what
you've learned from them, not how many birthdays you've
celebrated.
I believe - That it isn't
always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn
to forgive yourself.
I believe - That no matter
how bad your heart is broken, the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I believe - That our background
and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible
for who we become.
I believe - That credentials
on the wall
do not in of themselves, make you a decent human being.
More to come as I dig them
out of the archives, feel free to use these if they suit your needs
